Here are a few simple steps you can take that will extend the life of your beautiful blooms:
-Ensure you have a squeaky clean vase- so clean you would drink out of it. A dirty vase introduces dirt and bacteria into the water that will affect how long your current blooms last.
-If possible use a vase that will block sunlight as light encourages bacterial growth
-Fill your vase with fresh lukewarm water.
-Add floral preservative if available.
-Ensure no leaves will be submerged in water (reduce potential bacterial growth) & strip them off if they will.
-Recut stems (with clean sharp clippers) at a 45-degree angle (to maximize surface area for water intake) , 1-2 inches above stem end.
-Arrange your blooms.
-Keep them in a cool location, avoid direct sunlight (big sunny windows) or placing them near fans/cold drafts.
-The kitchen is typically a popular place to display flower arrangements, however please DO NOT display flowers anywhere near fruit or vegetables. Ripening fruits release ethylene gasses, which many flowers are quite sensitive to. This will rapidly decrease the life of your flowers.
-Exhaust fumes and cigarette smoke may also shorten bloom time.
-Remove any wilted petals or stems.
-Recut stems every couple of days and refill vase with fresh water every day.
Subscription and Individual bouquets can be delivered for an extra charge of $15 per delivery (i.e.: if you have a 10 week subscription you will be charged for 10 deliveries). If you choose the delivery option this charge will be added to your subscription purchase automatically. I deliver within Sturgeon County, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan and Edmonton. If you are located elsewhere please arrange a pickup location within our delivery area.
Alternatively, you can pick up your order free of charge from our farm. Approximate pickup and delivery dates, times and location will be arranged.
Business subscriptions will be delivered to your place of business.
To ensure quality, you must be available to receive your bouquet upon delivery. Delivery times will be arranged ahead of time. If you are not able to receive your delivery in person, please leave a bucket of cool water on your front porch somewhere out of the sun for me to place your flowers in and plan to be home promptly. If there is no vessel of water the bouquet will be left on the front porch where quality may be compromised if not tended to shortly. Once delivery has been completed The Rural Botanist relinquishes any responsibility for the condition of the product. Should you be unavailable for any delivery date during your subscription period you have the choice to have your bouquet delivered to another address within our delivery area (friend or family) if you contact me at least two days prior to delivery otherwise that date will be forfeited (no returns or discounts for unavailable dates). Please ensure the occupants of the new delivery address are aware that there will be a delivery that day.
All Sales are final***.
